Mindful Leadership

Staying in the present
to achieve a better future

Welcome to The Mind to Lead, a mindful leadership system that helps you stay present for greater success.

You probably found this site because you care as much about how you get results as the results you get.

And, you understand that leading is as much about motivating and guiding yourself as it is about inspiring others.

Mindful Leadership appeals to people who value:

  • Continuous learning
  • Self reflection
  • Constructive feedback
  • The emerging field of neuroleadership and how scientific findings about the brain can help leaders be more effective.

The foundation of The Mind to Lead system and improved effectiveness is noticing. Seeing situations, yourself, and others as they really are not only lessens the natural reactivity of the mind, it focuses the mind on action.

Mindfulness is the tool that helps you notice. Engaging the prefrontal cortex to notice the present moment allows the mind to let go of two unproductive, natural tendencies:

  • Running a narrative about the past or the future, and
  • Responding to new experiences with old habits.

Hello, I'm Suzanne Kryder, developer of The Mind to Lead system and author of the book, The Mind to Lead: Coaching for Calm, Confident Power. Since 1992, I've helped thousands of mindful leaders develop the confidence and skills to create lasting change in themselves, others, and their organizations.

How can you develop a more present and compassionate leadership style---what I call Calm, Confident Power? You need a leadership development system that is proven to change not only how you talk with and lead others but how you talk with and lead yourself. And, this plan can’t be just random strategies that you pick up and try to blend together from various management books or classes.

With a proven leadership development system, you'll have a clear path for using practical, brain-based tools to, first, stop your over-reactivity - of being angry or anxious - in challenging situations and second, bring your mind and body into the present moment so that you can make effective decisions and take clear action.

I've helped thousands of mindful leaders manage themselves and their organizations in a calm, firm way, increase their confidence dramatically, reduce their work stress, and help them have a lasting impact on their organization’s culture (see below for some client examples).

To get a sense of my unique, mindful leadership development system, I'd like to give you a valuable free gift: a 16-page miniguide and excerpt from my book, The Mind to Lead: Coaching for Calm, Confident Power. The miniguide introduces the model and tools that are essential for developing a calm, firm leadership style.

  • The emerging field of neuroleadership,

  • The three processes I teach to help leaders be Calm, Confident, and Powerful,

  • One of the nine case studies from my book---MY CO-WORKER AND I COMPETED FOR A MANAGEMENT POSITION; NOW, I’M HER BOSS---and how one of my clients successfully used the Mind to Lead model to calmly and firmly hold an employee accountable for her job.

  • Loads of other resources including one of the three easy-to-understand drawings of the brain, one of the nine Mind Trick Boxes that summarize neuroscientific studies and their relevance for leaders, and one of the nine Work Out Boxes that describe simple exercises to get your mind in shape in less than ten minutes a day.

A few of the mindful leaders I’ve worked with:

After working with Suzanne, I felt encouraged, and for the first time in years, I could go to work without fear or anxiety.

I was working for a supervisor that no matter what I did, in his eyes, it was wrong or never enough. I felt trapped, depressed, and hopeless. Suzanne showed me techniques that allow me to step back, relax, understand the situation, and deal with it more rationally than emotionally. I began to recover my self-esteem and self-confidence. I've had years and years of leadership training, but Suzanne's Mind to Lead gives you a true mental picture of what it takes to be an effective leader in the 21st century.”

Jim Schnaible, MS, MBA
Organizational Learning Consultant

Suzanne’s work is unique because of mindfulness which is not addressed in usual leadership coaching.

I would recommend her retreats to organizations that have a level of stress and burn out. I loved the silent retreat.”

Barbara B. Loeb, MD, MBA, CPE
Physician Coach, Physician Leader
Studer Group Advocate Health Care
Downers Grove, IL

After two retreats with Suzanne, I was able to employ tools that drastically improved my natural capacities to communicate, delegate, and influence.

Following Suzanne’s principles greatly enhanced my abilities to lead & inspire. I am able to empower my staff to come up with their own creative solutions to problems. All of this was accomplished calmly and with confidence."
