This six-minute video describes how my client, Britt, responded to a 3-page letter from one of her direct reports that criticized her leadership ability. Instead of ignoring the letter or making life miserable for Harlan, she chose to openly address his concerns in a one and a half-hour conversation. To prevent herself from being self-abosrbed during the conversation, Britt addressed her own feelings and self-confidence beforehand. As a result, both she and Harlan were able to stay calm and create solutions for improving their professional relationship. Rather than pointing the finger at the other guy, this video will encourage you to reflect on the part you play in challenging situations at work. I hope you find it helpful.
