Mind Matters - Video: Failure to modulate fight or flight May 31, 2011 |
| Hello This newsletter is from www.theMindtoLead.com and Suzanne Kryder. You subscribed to it on The Mind to Lead website. To unsubscribe, scroll to the bottom of the ezine, and click on the Unsubscribe link. ============================================ Thanks very much for subscribing to Mind Matters, the newsletter that turns brain research into practical leadership tools. This issue is only 299 words and takes less than 2 minutes to read. Later in "News & Resources," a link to a free coaching call in June and a good book on being the boss. ============================================ Next up in my video series---How Seven Leaders Stopped Making these Seven Brain-based Mistakes during Accountability Conversations--- Failing to modulate fight or flight. The video is under five minutes. It describes how my client, Dick, got tired of saying "yes" to everyone's requests for his time. When he understood that saying "yes" was part of his flight mechanism --- a way to avoid feeling the discomfort of saying "no" --- he was able to stand up for himself, feel the temporary anxiety, and deal with whatever the other person's reaction was. The video will encourage you to notice your tendency to say "yes" even though you want to say, "no thanks," and motivate you to set new, healthy boundaries with others. I hope you find it helpful. Let me know if you have questions or comments about the video.
