============================================

Thanks very much for subscribing to Mind Matters, the newsletter that turns brain research into practical leadership tools. This issue is only 270 words and takes less than 2 minutes to read.

Later in "News & Resources," there's good news about my book, The Mind to Lead: Coaching for Calm, Confident Power. And, I'm offering benefit workshops for two mindfulness communities on the east coast in December: Charlottesville and Cambridge.

============================================

Next up in my video series---How Seven Leaders Stopped Making these Seven Brain-based Mistakes during Accountability Conversations---is video #6, Forgetting Feelings. This five-minute video describes how my client, Bill, learned to express his feelings appropriately to get what he wanted.

Unlike most of my coaching clients who tend to be more on the gentle or passive end of the spectrum, Bill had an aggressive and sometimes hostile communication style. He was getting strong feedback that people were no longer willing to put up with his style, and it was time for him to change.

The video explains how the skill called, Affect Labeling---simply naming the feelings of ourselves or others---can lower the reactivity in the threat detection center of the brain.

So, rather than ignoring or repressing the feelings in a challenging situation, this video will encourage you to use feeling words to name your experience. I hope you find it helpful.
News and Resources:

I'm very excited to announce that my book on neuroleadership and mindful leadership is finished.

A paperback version is for sale on Amazon, and the Kindle version should be available in 4 weeks. Eventually, it will be available on other electronic readers.

If you've enjoyed the video series, you can read more about those case studies in the book. I hope you will buy it for yourself and your boss! And, I appreciate you sending the link to your network. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback.

I'd love to have you join us at one of the benefit workshops I'm leading for mindfulness communities in December:

Please pass the word about these on to your network on the east coast. And, there are more events coming in 2012 in New York and Washington, DC.

Thanks again for subscribing to my newsletter. Please forward this issue to your colleagues and friends who might find it helpful.

Best wishes,

Suzanne
