I was working on some organizational changes and needed to have some difficult conversations with my staff.

After working with Suzanne, not only did I find the right words to say, I felt the confidence I needed to say them. Those who are truly focused on self-improvement should find her work not only informative but evolutionary.”

Maybe you're curious about the book, but not sure you want to buy it. The 16-page miniguide is a short introduction to the 254-page book. It lets you sample my writing style and each of the book’s resources including:

  • One of the nine Mind Trick Boxes that summarize neuroscience research. The studies explain how aspects of your brain and mind promote leadership success.

  • One of the nine Work Out Boxes that describe simple exercises to get your mind in shape. Most of the exercises work in less than ten minutes. Some in as little as five or tenseconds.

  • One of the three easy-to-understand illustrations of the brain. They pinpoint the major brain structures that help you stay calm and focused.

  • One of the nine leader case studies using The Mind to Lead tools for managing up, down, or across in challenging situations without being passive or aggressive.

The book has a unique format that describes my conversations with a fictional coaching client named Karen and her management team. My dialogue with Karen shows how a coaching relationship uses various tools – learning, encouragement, challenge, and action – to foster leadership development.

As a new manager, I had this sense of overconfidence, but I was a little bit lost as to how to start.

Suzanne uses compassionate persistence to force honest introspection. She was adept at gently surfacing my weaknesses. And then – and only then – would she introduce a tool or a strategy that works - guaranteed - to solve that particular issue.”
