Leadership Retreats in New Mexico

Staying Calm, Confident and Powerful through the Recession

Leadership retreats for people who want to take a new direction in how they lead.

How are you handling the slowing economy?

Most leaders are getting angry or anxious. Some leaders are both.

Invest one day in leadership training that helps you and your organization cope with the stress and conflict of not only difficult economic times but any uncertainty in the workplace.

RESEARCH UPDATE

An eight-week training program in mindfulness with healthy employees in a work environment showed increases in positive brain activity and immune function. (“Alterations in Brain and Immune Function Produced by Mindfulness Meditation,” Davidson et al., 2002)

Purpose

These leadership retreats let you explore the power of Mindfulness, Inquiry, and Influence as a leader and an individual. All activities and experiences help you lead with a more calm, effective style.

You'll learn and practice three foundational skills:

Mindfulness: Stop worrying about the future and complaining about the past. Feel the power of moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness when the body relaxes and the mind is clear, open, and curious.

Inquiry: Investigate negative or judgmental thoughts, and make decisions from a neutral, not angry or fearful, position.

Influence: Communicate in a concise confident way to improve morale and employee productivity.

The benefits of these skills include increased self-awareness, self-trust, and self-acceptance; calm in the face of difficulties; more fluid adaptation to change; development of more effective coping strategies; decreases in a variety of stress-related physical symptoms, including chronic pain; significant decreases in anxiety and depression; improved concentration and creativity; an enhanced appreciation of life; and improved immune system functioning.

The net effect is Calm Confident Power.

RESEARCH UPDATE

After learning a simple mindfulness technique, three individuals frequently readmitted to a psychiatric hospital because of anger management problems showed no physical aggression and very low rates of verbal aggression over four years of follow-up. (“Individuals with Mental Illness Can Control their Aggressive Behavior Through Mindfulness Training,” Singh et al., 2007)
