Neuroleadership Services
It seems that successful leaders should be able to address challenging performance issues. However, many haven’t had the training or support to master accountability skills such as setting measurable expectations, giving constructive feedback, and holding people accountable for commitments. Because many mindful leaders are concerned about saying the wrong thing or angering a low performer, they often say little or nothing and hope the situation resolves itself. Instead, the problem escalates and is more difficult to address. As a result, high-performing team members lose confidence in the leader. The Mind to Lead services are based on a proprietary neuroleadership development program designed by Suzanne Kryder, Inc. that helps mindful leaders and management teams calmly address and resolve performance issues. Our services help leaders develop three overlapping leadership styles:
Calm Leader: From Reactive to Reflective - Understand why the brain reacts to some situations with anger or anxiety
- Stay calm in times of extreme change or stress
- Maintain mental focus and concentration at work
- More about the Calm Leader.
Confident Leader: From Uncertain to Self-assured- Let go of self-doubt about your leadership ability
- Maintain confidence to make decisions and take risks
- Develop self-assurance to hold your position in a difficult conversation
- More about the Confident Leader.
Powerful Leader: From Ineffective to Influential- Delegate clear, concise performance expectations without rambling or apologizing
- Help direct reports resolve their resistance to job expectations
- Disagree without being defensive or explosive
- More about the Powerful Leader.

Customized Retreats This series of three customized retreats develops the Calm, Confident Power leadership style. In the retreats, team members practice The Mind to Lead skills to improve team communication, accountability, and effectiveness. Each of the three retreats is available in a one, two, or three-day curriculum; specific team issues can be added to the two- or three-day agendas. Retreats can be scheduled 30 to 90 days apart. The management team leader receives confidential coaching throughout the engagement. Individual or group coaching is also available for management team members.

In addition to The Mind to Lead Retreats, we offer two other leadership development programs: Challenging Conversations: Managing Up, Down, and Across the Organization
For individual performers, leaders, and teams who want to improve their ability to hold anyone at work accountable for their commitments. Participants will understand why the brain is threatened while giving and receiving honest feedback, and they’ll learn to overcome anxiety or anger during challenging conversations. Each of the three workshops in the program is available in half-, one-, and two-day formats: - Managing Up: Setting Boundaries with Your Boss
- Managing Down: Holding Direct Reports Accountable
- Managing Across: Facilitating Effective Agreements
I highly recommend Dr. Suzanne Kryder as a skilled training facilitator. We asked her to provide a workshop on how to have difficult conversations with colleagues. Her unique interactive teaching methods held everyone’s attention, provided challenging real-situation practice, and motivated them to put the techniques into action. We are very much looking forward to working with her again.”

Based on her unique dual background in mindfulness and neuroleadership, Suzanne offers informative, entertaining keynotes, talks, and workshops on the most important communication skills for leaders, teams, and professionals. Talks are available for workplaces, professional associations, and conferences for executives, nonprofit executive directors, business owners, and members of professional firms such as physicians, lawyers, accountants, psychologists, and others.
Dr. Suzanne Kryder’s presentation on the topic of neuroleadership at the Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network (CBODN) 2010 Annual Conference was so well attended that we were ecstatic to have her present at an evening program. The CBODN October program was, again, especially well attended. She provides a foundational understanding of neuroleadership that anyone may grasp, and engages the audience in practical exercises and demonstrations.” Everett Marshall, CBODN President Liz Smith, CBODN Programs Co-Director Washington, DC
All talks are highly interactive with how-to oriented content and valuable resources. Suzanne uses case studies, self-assessments, and humor to make her talks practical and memorable. Talks and workshops can be provided on the following topics in person or virtually via teleconference or webinar wherever your group members are located. - Neuroleadership: Why Brains are Naturally Negative and How to Motivate People Anyway
While there’s plenty to complain about at work, some people have turned criticizing into a full time job. Suzanne explains the research on why brains are wired to whine, then teaches three brain-based tools to calm people down and get them back to work. - Achieving Goals: How to Set Expectations and Focus the Mind for Success
Organizations succeed when leaders delegate tasks and projects effectively. Learn to calm the threat detection center in the brain (yours and theirs), communicate clear expectations, and focus the mind to complete projects and tasks. - Mindful Leadership: How to Work Effectively with Every Communication Style
During this energizing workshop, take a free assessment to identify your communication style. Suzanne describes the four styles and how to mindfully work with each type of brain---even styles that drive you a little crazy. - Emotional Intelligence for Brainiacs: How Science & Technology Professionals Excel by Expressing Feelings at Work
Science and technology professionals tend to dismiss emotional intelligence as touchy-feely. Learn the four strengths of your “Thinking” communication style, and what neuroscientific studies say about how to express yourself and get what you want at work.
Suzanne is available to facilitate management or staff retreats, planning meetings, or challenging conversations. Suzanne exceeded my expectations. EPIC has worked with many consultants, but none that got the results in such a short time as Suzanne. In a year, the board doubled in size and became more active and supportive of the organization’s activities.” Erik Gustafson Executive Director of the Education for Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) Washington, DC
